About Us

Welcome to Echoes of Empathy, a project by Editora Caipora LTDA / Caipora Books, where stories become bridges and empathy becomes a path to understanding. As a global publisher, our mission is to harness the transformative power of storytelling to foster compassion, cultural awareness, and inclusive dialogue across classrooms and communities worldwide.

Our Story

Echoes of Empathy was born out of a passion for stories that challenge, connect, and illuminate the human experience. Founded by a Brazilian immigrant living in Germany, Editora Caipora LTDA (or Caipora Books internationally) embraces the power of narratives to transcend boundaries. Inspired by the multicultural background of my own family—a son born in Berlin to a Brazilian mother and Viennese father—our journey is personal, driven by a commitment to meaningful stories that connect across languages, cultures, and generations.

Our Mission

The name Caipora reflects a spirit rooted in Brazilian folklore, symbolizing protection, resilience, and the enduring power of storytelling. Through our bilingual children’s books, environmental folktales, and Gothic literature resources, we seek to amplify diverse voices, nurture empathy, and create lasting impact.

Research Focus

As an academic researcher in Brazil, my work in the project "From the Fantastic to the Incredible: Facets of the Uncanny in Today's World" explores the role of horror literature in reflecting societal fears and human resilience. This often-marginalized genre offers a unique lens to confront cultural taboos, explore prejudice, and awaken empathy by engaging with the “Other.” Through Echoes of Empathy, we aim to bring these powerful narratives into educational spaces, enabling educators and students alike to challenge stereotypes, foster compassion, and connect with each other on a deeper level.

What We Publish

  • Multicultural Gothic & Horror Literature: Books and resources that use Gothic and horror themes to explore empathy, exclusion, and cultural understanding.
  • Bilingual Children’s Books: Culturally diverse stories celebrating language and identity, designed to foster bilingualism and cultural pride.
  • Environmental Folktales: Traditional stories that inspire environmental responsibility and cultural respect.

Why We Do It

Our vision is clear: to create a world where every student feels seen, every voice is heard, and every story has the power to spark empathy. When we gather around stories, we see our shared humanity more vividly and embrace our differences with greater understanding.
